Tales at the phone: when Rodari wrote them, he imagined accountant Bianchi, his sales representative, telling them to his daughter waiting for her daily goodnight from her far away father. A poster and a fate in a title. Thanks to an insight by Einaudi, the volume was entrusted to the great Italian designer who seemed to share (or even foresee) the program Rodari would have published in his awarded ?Grammatica della Fantasia? of the early 70s. But...were those tales working, at the phone? Munari had Gianni Rodari reading them for him, with a grey pencil and a red-blue one. While he was listening, the receiver between his shoulder and his ear, he scribbled, lost in his thoughts, as many people do at the phone...?The word acted? and the illustrator`s hand followed the movements those words were suggesting: that`s how Bruno Munari composed the beautiful illustrations of this volume.
